Taxonomie-Verordnung

Taxonomie-Verordnung

The taxonomy is an EU-wide system for categorising sustainable economic activities. It is intended to provide guidance to investors and incentivise capital for the green transformation of energy production and the economy. The financial system plays a key role in the transition to a low-emission, resource-conserving economy. The European Commission therefore presented initial criteria back in June 2021 to help channel more money into sustainable, climate-friendly activities in the European Union and make the environmental footprint more visible in company reports.

Since 1 January 2022, companies in Germany that are required to report on the EU taxonomy must do so in accordance with the CSR Directive Implementation Act (CSR-RUG).

The Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) will require further companies to provide information on the EU taxonomy from 2026, see box on the left.
